Bali has become pretty much self-sufficient in providing all amenities whilst also being an island in a developing country.
Some things, however, come at a surprising cost. We've noted some things that you may feel more comfortable bringing from home.
Festival bits and bobs. Like to dress up? Want to bring eco-glitter decor? Instead of spending days looking for your tailored needs, consider bringing niche items along with you.
Tampons. Some personal care products are more economically efficient. Contact lenses are another high price item in Bali.
Quality toiletries such as shampoo and conditioner, of course, the mini-markets and supermarkets are fully stocked with regular branded toiletries, however, if you like specific sulfate-free goodies, please bring them with you!
Coral-friendly sunscreen and tanning oil.
Specific homey snacks. Hobnobs anyone?
For an island with quite a choice of speakeasies alcohol can be surprisingly expensive. Bali does have its own special palm home-brew though, called Arak. So if you’re one for pre-drinks maybe grab a bottle at the duty-free.
