Payment Options

Bali is very diverse with payment options, there are many other ways to get by if you happen to leave your wallet at home!

CREDIT / DEBIT CARDS
Most are fine, although Visa and Mastercard are the most widely accepted cards.

CASH
Cash is gold. Use the Indonesian Rupiah for day-to-day transactions. Gas stations, small side street restaurants (warungs), and shops (ruko) will only accept cash. Please remember to only use officially authorized money changers. Re-count your cash in front of the vendor, and immediately stash it safely away after. Do not allow cash to change hands after you have personally re-counted.

QRIS
Paying via QR code has become quite popular in Bali and you can pay with QR in most mainstream establishments.

TOUCHLESS
Tapping your phone on a PDQ machine to pay for your transaction is a new flex in Bali. Some places provide this service but it isn’t yet common.

LOCAL BANK TRANSFER
As a traveler, you may be able to transfer locally with an app such as Wise, although it is wiser to use one of the above options for ease.
